Scholarship Information

Eligibility

1. Must be a graduating senior from an area high school within or near the Central

Texas cities of Killeen, Fort Hood, Harker Heights, or Copperas Cove.

2.. Must meet the requirements outlined in the scholarship description.

3. Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

4. Must submit all required documents with a competed scholarship application.

The Foundation provides financial assistance to assists graduating high school seniors with furthering their educational pursuits.

Scholarships are open to all who meet the academic, financial need, and scholarship description requirements.

Scholarships are awarded on an annual basis and paid directly to the college or university,

Scholarship Opportunities

The Mu Delta Zeta Chapter General Scholarship award is presented to a female high school graduating senior who exhibits high academic standards, service within her community, and dedication to her future scholarly endeavors.

The Lois Fields Scholarship award is in honor of one of the charter members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Mu Delta Zeta Chapter.

Mrs. Fields graduated salutatorian in the Class of 1960 from Ralph J. Bunche High School in Crockett, Texas. She attended Paul Quinn College in Waco followed by Texas Southern University where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Art Education.

Mrs. Fields began her teaching career by returning to her beloved Ralph J. Bunche High School as an Art teacher. In 1968 when her husband was stationed at Fort Hood, she worked as a teacher and later the principal of the Fort Hood Kindergarten and First Grade and Kindergarten & Under School. Her devotion to childhood education led Mrs. Fields to the Child and Youth Services Division at Fort Hood where she became Director of the Child Development Center until her retirement in 2004.

This scholarship is awarded to a female high school senior planning to major in education and become a certified public-school teacher.

The Elva Chase Scholarship award is to honor the giving spirit and life of service exemplified by one of the charter members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Mu Delta Zeta Chapter.

Mrs. Elva Chase graduated from Grambling High School in Grambling, Louisiana. She was inspired by her High School English teacher in who was very encouraging and lived by the motto to “do it right or leave it alone.” This motto would guide Mrs. Chase and influence the trajectory of her life’s work. She attended Grambling State University in Grambling, Louisiana, where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English in 1970.

Mrs. Chase has been instrumental in several endeavors to impact the educational awareness of the citizens of her community. One such endeavor for which Mrs. Chase has left her fingerprint is in the role she served to help establish Transformative Charter Academy, the first charter school in Killeen, Texas.

Mrs. Chase has taught many grade levels, retiring in 2006 from Central Texas College as a Communications Professor.

This scholarship is awarded to an African American female senior who holds a strong belief in providing service to others and her community as exemplified through her actions, words and/or deeds, while maintaining high scholarly standards as evidenced by 200 documented hours of volunteer service.

PI Educational, Counseling, & Enrichment Services

The Margaret Jones Edmonson Scholarship award is in honor of one of the Mother-in-Love of Dr. Lendy Jones, 5 Pearlz of Hope Foundation Board Member.

The purpose of this award is to recognize the efforts of African American students who exhibits high academic standards and dedication to their future scholarly endeavors.

The award is to be presented to a young African American male or female who has a 3.0 GPA or higher and demonstrate an interest in pursuing a degree in nursing or education.

Students enrolled in medical related courses or who have received the Public Service Endorsement are encouraged to apply.

Shawna Dixon

The Shawna Dixon INpowering Brilliance Scholarship recognizes that brilliance is not only defined by grades or class rank. Its mission is to empower first-generation students to pursue higher education with confidence by acknowledging perseverance, growth, and the determination to achieve long-term success.

The Shawna Dixon INpowering Brilliance Scholarship assist students whose potential, determination, and ability to grow may not be accurately reflected in traditional academic measures. This scholarship aims to increase opportunities for higher education for students who have shown resilience and promise, especially those who are frequently disregarded by merit-based scholarship programs.

Preference will be given to a high school senior who plans to attend a Historically Black College or University (HBCU). If no eligible applicants attending an HBCU are identified, the scholarship may be awarded to a student enrolling at an accredited college or university and pursuing a major in a STEAM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, or Mathematics).

Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 and must not meet traditional high-merit academic scholarship thresholds. This scholarship is intentionally designed to support students whose academic records reflect B- or C-average performance and whose potential may not be fully recognized through grade-based merit awards. High-merit thresholds are determined annually by the scholarship committee.
